Michael Fassbender, Domhnall Gleeson to star in "Frank"
NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) - Michael Fassbender and Domhnall Gleeson will star in Lenny Abrahamson's "Frank," executive producer and co-financier Film4 announced on Tuesday.
Gleeson has signed on to play Jon, a young, aspiring musician who joins a pop band led by Fassbender's Frank.
Fassbender has kept a torrid pace over the past few years, from his lauded roles in Steve McQueen's "Shame" and David Cronenberg's "A Dangerous Method" to his turn this summer in Ridley Scott's "Prometheus."
Having wrapped McQueen's "Twelve Years a Slave," he is now filming Scott's "The Counselor," which just resumed production. The death of Scott's brother Tony Scott in August temporarily delayed the shoot.
The German actor has been linked to any number of other roles, and is signed on to star and co-produce "Assassin's Creed," based on Ubisoft's videogame franchise.
"Frank" will be Fassbender's first film with Abrahamson, who directed "Garage" and "Adam & Paul." The comedy is a co-production between Runaway Fridge and Element Pictures with David Barron, Ed Guiney and Stevie Lee serving as producers.
Jon Ronson, who wrote the book "The Men Who Stare at Goats," and Peter Straughan, who adapted it for the big screen, penned the script for "Frank."
